Took a go long approach to trip yesterday with Matt Hyashi. We started out with sights on the islands, Breton and Gossier but got out there to find them dead. Were going off a report of every cast reds but only form of sea life we found was a scallop land locked on the beach...

Day turned around for the better though as we started hitting rigs on the way in. Every structure we hit was slap full of sheepshead, drum, and redfish. Must the reds were either bulls or babies but put a couple nice eaters in the box. All but one of the drum were nice puppy drum and the exception being a monster bull that we somehow pulled out of the rig pillings he kept trying to go back to.

All fish were caught on jig heads with bait shrimp dropping down by the rigs. Seems like the trick was to get up current and let the water drift your baits back into the rig. Great action and a slam packed box to show for it when we turned the bow north and headed for the dock.

Time to go long, if you want action. It was a fun day.
