Tom had booked a trip some time out and as luck would not have it the weather looked pretty ominous when He, Chris, and I motored out in the dark and rain yesterday morning.  The forecast was a coin flip and as luck would have it we won!  Skies cleared and we were allowed a day of fishing.  Still had to battle some pretty brutal 20mph+ winds but we made it happen with the first stop being a hit with corks going down and trout coming in the boat.  Then we hooked up on something that was definitely no trout... 10-15 minute battle  Chris had landed a monster drum!  We decided to try for some more big fish and moved down to a place they frequent and dropped some dead bait.  Was not long and some monster or another had the end of it.  Only problem was he was too big!  And so were the next 2!  We went 0/3 on big nasties, oh well, that's fishing!  Note to self, keep one giant "don't mess with me" pole in the boat at all times.  Did a little marsh fishing on the way in and ended the day with 35-40 trout, 2 reds, 3 heads, and a gaffy in a pear tree!  Fun people to fish with, even gave me some genuine Wisconsin cheese curds!  A treat you can't get unless you live there in cheese country.  Hope to see them again, and glad we manage to get in a day of fishing!
