I was just sittin' on my porch watching the post Jazz Fest crowds on their nightly march down Bayou St. John, and 5 fellers walked up and said, "You Salty Dog?". Long story short they filled a canceled trip for last Saturday and we got to motor out into Breton Sound and get on that ACTION we have been on all spring. We had Lyle, Kenny, Cody, and first mate Nate on board for no stop fish catching action. W had to earn it though, the weatherman forcast 5-10 and 1-2 ft waves and we ended up with 15-20 and solid 3s. Really "sporty" out there to say the least. We stopped off a little short and go the guys on some really good monster redfish right off the bat. Everyone got to haul in on of those beasts. Then to stop number 2 we picked up a nice addition to the box with some younger drum and redfish. And by this time it had begun to calm a bit so I took the guys out to the sheephead grounds and we got on um bigtime. Sheephead, drum, and massive redfish on every drop. Doubles and triples for the rest of the day. The guys told me multiple times that they had been on quite a few charter and this was the most fun of any they had been on. That is what makes my day, I'm telling you. I like to be a good fisherman, I like to impress fellow captain's with a good catch, but in the end this is what makes it all worth it. Driving home, knowing you gave some people a day on the water they will not forget. You did your job, and that makes you feel good. The guys travel for work, and I hope if they are in town again we will get out there after um again. Just hope we did not spoil um too much with the first trip! :D
