Had a really fun day of fishing a couple days ago with a younger crew. I think our oldest was 21. The charter was Quin's birthday trip and he brought along his girlfriend Leslie, and friends Brandon and Ryan. It was just after those cold fronts had pushed water temps down into the upper 40's and trout were waking up late in the day. I opted to still meet the crew at dawn and take them to a bite that did not mind the cold. We pulled up on the sheephead and puppy drum and starting putting fish in the box one right after another. I lost count of the sheephead we deemed worthy of the box but believe me I got to figure that out at the cleaning table. Caught them the usual way dropping bait shrimp down the the structure they were holding on. Guys had a blast with this little start, and Ryan kept pulling in the occasional trout on plastics while we worked over the sheeps. Stage two of the day ended up being even more fun! Took the crew back to a little redfish canal I hopped would be turned on with the cold weather and sure enough it was on fire. We caught more then 50 redfish keeping our limit amidst the doubles and triples. Redfish are in a feeding frenzy right now trying to beat the winter chill. Every redfish I have cleaned in the last few days has had its belly PACKED. Guys were really happy about all the action and I got them a beautiful haul of sheephead and redfish filets to take home and share with their friends and family. They did also donate about half of their sheephead to the charity poboy giveaways we do. I think I have about half the meat I need to do another 200 meals for the homeless and we just did one about a week and a 1/2 ago! Great day out there with some nice young people that got the right idea of a good time.

Brandy's catch of the day! ;D
