Had three young men down to fish with me yesterday and boy were they in for a treat. Got there nice and early and we hit the water in the dark for the ride out to the sacred fishing grounds. Throttle down all the way to a rig deep in Breton Sound. Pulled up got ready for battle. Corks set deep, first cast big fat slab trout. And it was doubles and triples in no time. All big thick fish in the 1-3lb range no measurements necessary. Guys were naturals I told them about how trout frenzy feed and to all cast into the same place and to throw any dead shrimp in that area, and we kept um frenzied. Good thing too because just as we hit their limit the bite slowed and tapered off. It was really early and game plan was a combo redfish/trout day so we took that as a message and packed in back inside. Hit two different redfish grounds and got on them at both stops. Andy was the redfish whisperer getting an early start on Jeff and Dave. But Jeff stepped up to the plate at both locations pulling in biggest red both in the bull class with one site fished from a wake going about 15lbs. David showed his mojo at the last stop once we limited on redfish we went to throwing plastics with gold spinners. He was a machine on the plastic putting 4 big 6-12lb reds in the boat right at the end. GREAT day on the water with some really positive and friendly guys. If they ever make it back down to New Orleans I really hope we get a chance to put a whoppin' on um again.
