I love a lady who can fish, and let me tell you Ms. Sondra who I had in my boat yesterday is one of the best. She brought along her helpers Roger and Bruce and were there dark and early ready for a day on the water. We went long after trout only to find isolated thunderstorms had pushed up unexpected wind. Did not stop Roger from catching a MONSTA bullred that took forever to reel in. Shortly after we pulled the plug on plan trout and turned to protected waters in search of more redfish. Great day on reds, once again catching them on both gold spinner and Campo's live or dead shrimps under a cork. We got on a couple really good bites and packed the 94q cooler to the brim. But Sondra was a fishing machine. She says, "Your not pulling the plug on us eh cap", or "I'm not done fishing yet, y'all aren't right?" Heh this lady was a trooper! We used every one of our 350 shrimp and fished until 4pm. By the end of it Roger was pretty much just a deck hand, netting fish and pulling anchor, a position he respectfully resigned when it came time to clean the boat.  But I got to tell you I had a blast the entire time and I am really glad she kept us fishing. Because right at the end we were in Lake Borgne on another good redfish bite and I hook up on a what I thought was a red. I went to hand the rod to Sondra and of course she refused, "I catch my own fish!" Heh so I reeled it in on a rod with the handle on the right side like she like it. Guess what... Not a red! Biggest trout I have ever seen out of Shell Beach!!! Bruce with the net and we put the beast in the boat. 25 and 1/2" and 6lbs. A true monsta for inshore! I know a lot of beasts are caught out on the barrier islands but to get a 6lber right there in Borgne to end the day I was as happy as fishermen get. Great day with great folks and they already planning on coming back.
