Had brothers Chris and Dan aboard the Glossie Mae with me yesterday and we had a blast out there chasing marsh critters around.  Being from Virginia they really wanted to catch some sheephead, because up there they are far more elusive.  Mainly a catch and release day, but we did keep a few fish for the guys at Campo's Marina and a few for the fellows to enjoy at maurepasfoods.com/.  Great option to have some of your catch cooked by this acclaimed resturant in New Orleans.  As for the fishing, this prolonged warm weather has really kept the fall fishing rolling and we caught fish everywhere we went.  Started in the morning on a few trout under corks when we happened into the target species of the day, SHEEPHEAD!  Found um on points in the marsh anywhere we had a good tidal movement comming around with a shell bottom.  Guys got pumped everytime they saw just how big the sheeps get down here in Louisiana.  Another treat we got in on was casting the banks with spinner baits for redfish.  Trolling motor on, raining spinners on likely shorelines we put some really nice redfish in the boat and released just as many.  Chris has the beast in this department with a brute of a marsh redfish that we caught way up in a secluded marsh lagoon.  It gave a nice long drag pulling fight.  Guys were happy but we made one stop on the way to the dock that put us over the top.  Hit the Dam and the MRGO rocks and put the smack down on more sheephead, bull redfish, and a few more trout.  I'm talking every drop action with regular triples!  Guys kept saying that Louisiana fishing isn't even real.  Its real...  Come get some!

Dan with a nice speck to start the day.

Chris getting us on track with his first big Louisiana sheephead.

Dan with our first respectable Redfish.

Just so Chris didn't get the big head, Dan's follow up sheep.

Drag puller!

Double up!  Sorry Chris, Dan's solid trout tops your mud perch.

OXHEAD.
