Mike, Brian, and Justin came down from Baton Rogue from a day in the Glossie Mae. Picked a good one too. Not for the wind because it was up but for the catch they were spot on. Woke this morning with dreams of flat seas and easy pickins'. Walked out my door flat calm bayou. Still dreamin'. But by the time we hit the Sound it was a salty splash of awakening... Chop, more then slight. We carried on. Hit a couple rigs and they were covered up in people. Passed the first one up and anchored and the second and got to watch a fish catching semenar for about 20 minutes trying to get a bite going on our side. No dice. We pulled anchor and kept at it. Next stop nadda. Ok wait lets reset the anchor and give it one more go. Trout. And another, and another, and 97 more. Smoked um with doubles and triples. Fast as you got bait in the water WHACK solid trout on! They were flying over the gunnels like invading pirates. Hit 100 then caught a couple on plastics just for gigs then headed for the marsh. Reds were good to us as well boating twelve, 2 drum, and a flounder before heading for the dock. But the real fish of the day was still to come. A true monster. We stopped off near Hopedale and caught a massive alligator gar. Huge one for rod'n'reel was really fun for the whole crew. Prolly went 5' long and 60-70lbs easy. Got video fighing/boating it will post later. Gave him to a church group on St. Claude for their fund raising fish fry.

Fun day at SB!
